SWOODA partnered with Runnersworld to design the first circular sports store concept in the Netherlands. The project transformed over 22,000 recycled running shoes into furniture, counters, walls, and even a running floor. Inspired by the idea of sustainability, the concept called "The Loop" integrates customers directly into the circular economy. Donated shoes are not only reused but also visible within the interior, giving shoppers a tangible connection to their contribution. The design emphasizes warm minimalism, with calm, neutral tones that highlight the recycled textures and materials. A sustainability corner was introduced to engage customers in ongoing recycling efforts and education. Modern technology, including a tracking app, complements the physical store by allowing customers to follow the journey of their shoes. The result is a space that blends innovation, sustainability, and customer experience into one seamless narrative. This new concept sets a precedent for retail design while aligning with Runnersworld’s community-driven values. Ultimately, it shows how retail can inspire environmental responsibility without sacrificing style or function.
